Artists: Lea Cetera | Beth Collar | Jeschkelanger | Ella Littwitz | Arash Nassiri Origin as an idea manifests on a multitude of levels, in an attempt to bring a structure from the past to a space of contemporaneity. This transition becomes as a scaffold for the future-casting nature of origin stories, while creating a large volume of literary output. These stories and myths exist globally and set-up the framework for how we structure our lives. When one considers the resonance these stories have, it becomes apparent why we should continue to question power structures that traditional concepts of origin impose on us. Casting a critical eye this exhibition traces the erosion of several overarching concepts and studies the significance of identity, history, and theory. Navigating through moments that disrupt accepted narratives, the artworks overlay existing environments and objects to create parallel narratives. This exhibition is curated by 19 individuals from 15 countries with varied perspectives on origin; unpacking perceptions of culture to create a sense of movement in time and thought. Exhibited pieces include sculpture, print, video, installation, as well as an off-site performance.
